Our Beliefs

Our Ministry

We believe the core message of the gospel is that Jesus loves sinners. Not only does Jesus have intense passion for all of us as sinners, He has the power to transform any of us no matter how deeply we have fallen or how often we have failed.  He meets us where we are and leads us to a place of truth, love, and redemption.  We stand for the truth of God as revealed in scripture and we stand by it in love and grace.  We believe that Jesus is perfect theology, that faith is generated in the atmosphere of experiencing truth, and that we owe the world a powerful gospel, full of God’s signs and wonders.

The Bible

We believe the Old and New Testaments to be the inspired, infallible Word of God and as such have ultimate authority in all areas of life and faith.  Bible study without Bible experience does not benefit the believer. (1 Thessalonians 2:13, 2 Timothy 3:16)

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is God with us today, sustaining and guiding us.  The Holy Spirit is the power of God at work in the world today. Through the power of the Holy Spirit are people brought to wholeness from brokenness.  Through the power of the Holy Spirit are people physically and spiritually healed.  Through the Holy Spirit we prophecy, worship, and encounter the presence of the Living God!  Through the Holy Spirit, we are being transformed into people who more clearly reflect the love, power, and purpose of Jesus.  In the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live holy and minister super-naturally. The baptism of the Holy Spirit according to Acts 1:4-8 and 2:4 is poured out on believers that they might have power to be witnesses. {Acts 1:8;   I Corinthians 12:1-11;  2 Corinthians 3:18;  Galatians 5:22}

The Exposition of Scripture

We proclaim the theme of the biblical text in its biblical, historical and grammatical context to address the needs of our lives today.  Expository preaching is the standard for our pulpit ministry and the hope of a healthy church.

The Trinity

There is only one true God who is the eternal King, Creator and Redeemer of all that is. He is perfectly holy, just, loving and truthful. He has revealed Himself to be eternally self-existent as one being in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. (John 5:19, John 17:5)

God the Father

We believe in and worship the one true, living and loving God, the Holy One of Israel.  God’s heart was so filled with love and pity for His lost and sinful children that God feely gave His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to redeem and reconcile them back to Himself.  God is all-knowing and all-powerful, the creator of all things!                                                  (2 Corinthians 13:14; Revelation 4:11)

Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus is Head of the Church and Lord over all creation.  The Lord Jesus Christ, the one and only Son of God, was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin, Mary, and is God’s Anointed One, empowered by the Holy Spirit to inaugurate God’s Kingdom on earth. He was crucified for our sins, died, was buried, resurrected and ascended into heaven, and is now alive today, in the presence of God the Father and in His people. He is “true God” and “true man.” (Colossians 1:15-19; John 4:10)

Salvation

We are saved by God’s grace, through faith in the person and work of Jesus Christ. Anyone can be restored to fellowship with God through repenting, believing and receiving Jesus as their Savior and Lord. The Holy Spirit, convicts, regenerates, justifies, and adopts us as we enter the Kingdom of God as His sons and daughters.

Grace

We are saved by God’s grace, through faith in the person and work of Jesus Christ. Anyone can be restored to fellowship with God through repenting, believing and receiving Jesus as their Savior and Lord. The Holy Spirit, convicts, regenerates, justifies, and adopts us as we enter the Kingdom of God as His sons and daughters.

Faith

comes by the grace of God and is the work of the Holy Spirit producing obedience to God’s commands and revelations.   God is a promise-keeping God and, just as He entered into covenant relationship with Israel in the Old Testament, God also enters into a covenant today with those who are in Christ.  This is based solely on God’s faithfulness and pursuit of us in spite of human shortcomings.  Faith is believing that which is not seen in the physical yet is known in our hearts as truth in the spirit. (Hebrews 11:1)

The Cross

The victorious redemptive work of Christ on the cross provides freedom from the power of the enemy – sin, lies, sickness and torment.

The Church

The Church consists of all who put their faith in Jesus Christ. He gave His church the ordinances of Baptism and Communion. The Church exists to carry on the ministry of Jesus Christ and further advance His kingdom by undoing the works of the enemy, preaching and living the good news of God’s love, disciple the nations, baptizing and teaching them to love and obey God.

Discipleship

We believe all followers of Jesus are called to be His disciples. Discipleship involves active commitment to grow in our understanding and application of the Word of God as we seek to live obedient lives of Gospel witness and service using the various gifts given to all believers by the Holy Spirit. (Mark 1:16-17; Matthew 28: 18-20; 1 Peter 1:13-6)

Key Scriptures For the Church

NIV Matthew 10:7-8
(Jesus said) As you go, preach this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven is near.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.
NIV Matthew 28:18-20
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
