Barbara Jo Williams

November 13, 1963 – April 4, 2014

Barbara Jo Williams was born to Charles and Norma Williams in Harbor City, California on November 13, 1963.  Charles worked for McDonnell Douglas and Norma was a nurse at the VA.  Barbara’s love for travel started thanks to her father’s career.  Charles sold airline fleets around the world, and part of that sale included the delivery.  He would take the whole family with him, so Barbara became a world traveler at a very young age.  Before high school, she had been to New Zealand, Iran, India, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and the Philippines.

Growing up, her family moved to Saugus, California in 1968.  She enjoyed an active childhood with many close neighborhood friends and participated in many activities, including Brownies, ballet and playing the flute.  She graduated from Canyon High School in 1981, and joined some of her classmates on a trip to Europe sponsored by the school.  She spent several years at College of the Canyons, and then transferred to the University of Redlands, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.

At the University of Redlands, she met Jeff Higginson, and they were married in 1988.  They separated in 2001, and were divorced in 2002.  She used her degree from Redlands to become a Project Manager for several telecommunications companies, including ATEL communications, AmeriTel, Inc, and Corporate Telecomm.  She enjoyed what she did, and was very good at it.  Although she stopped working in that industry several years ago, she created friendships that are still very strong today.  Since then, she enjoyed being a Pampered Chef rep, loved taking Zumba classes, and eventually became a Senior Associate at her current job with OPES Financial Solutions.

In May of 2004, Barbara found a new way of life that provided her with serenity and a peace in dealing with situations that previously bewildered her.  She was introduced to a group of people who understood, loved and supported her through both challenging and magnificent times.  She also provided understanding, unconditional love and support to those she came in contact with.  She was a great example to others, very inclusive, making all around her feel “a part of” the circle.

In 2011, Barbara met her soul mate thanks to an online dating service.  Barbara and Ron Craig made an immediate connection.  They both grew up in Canyon Country, both went to Sierra Vista Jr. High School and Canyon High School, and both worked at Magic Mountain in their youth, but it took them this long to actually meet.  Ron proposed last Thanksgiving, and their wedding was set for September 20th.

Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Charles E. Williams and her mother, Norma L. Williams.

Barbara is survived by her fiancé Ron Craig, her uncle, Dave Williams, aunt Martha Baugh, and cousins Mary Frances Burns, Joe Noll, Scott Williams, Shawn Williams, Jeffery Baugh, Brian Baugh, and Carol Farrar.
