Howard Wayne Henry

1958 – 2013

Howard Wayne Henry was born to Levi and Gloria Henry in Los Angeles, California on July 27, 1958.  Howard was the second of five children in a loving family.  He enjoyed an active childhood with many close neighborhood friends and participated in many activities, including boy scouts, sports, and music.
Howard loved football, and started playing the sport at an early age, from Pop Warner to Junior High and High School.  After graduating from Palisades High School in 1976, Howard attended California State University at Los Angeles and majored in microbiology.  During that time, Howard met Regina Watson.  The two attended classes together, became good friends, and began dating.  Howard and Regina were married on July 9, 1983 and were blessed to have three beautiful children, Sherice Renee, Howard Wayne II, and Brian Edward.  They were each a treasure to him.
Howard began working in the medical industry for Smith Kline in the Microbiology and Special Chemistry Departments.  He advanced to the business side of the laboratory as a protocol administrator.  When Smith Kline became Quest Diagnostics, Howard was promoted to the position of Supervisor for the Clinical Trials Department, where he managed many employees.  Howard worked for the company for 30 years and was well liked and respected by all.
Howard had warmth, class, and a great sense of humor.  He loved and cherished his family.  Howard also had a great love for God and devoted much of his time to volunteering in multiple capacities at church.  A member at Sherman Oaks Presbyterian Church for nine years, Howard served as an elder and was a member of the worship team, playing bass guitar, bongos, and djembe.
Howard was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Levi Alford Henry.
Howard is survived by his devoted wife, Regina; daughter Sherice and Son-in-Law, Semous Smith; sons Howard Henry II and Brian Henry; grandchildren, Maya and Michael Smith; mother, Gloria Henry; brothers Levi Henry II, Keith Henry, and Craig Henry; sister Rachelle Henry; Uncle, Dr. C.O. Henry of Dallas, Texas; aunt Sylvia Fennell of Denver, Colorado, and many special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved him dearly.
